Querétaro is the epicenter of the history of the Mexican nation. Visit the Casa del Corregimiento, where Doña Josefa Ortíz de Domínguez lived, the Recinto de Honor de las Personas Ilustres de Querétaro and the Teatro de la República, where Maximilian of Habsburg was sentenced and the current constitution was promulgated.
2. Museums.
Let yourself be seduced by the exhibitions and permanent collections in the museums: City Museum, Casa de la Zacatecana, Art Museum, Museum of the Magic of the Past, Restoration Museum and the Regional Museum.
3. Temples.
From baroque to neoclassical, each facade and many details speak of the colonial past and religious life in Querétaro. The city of Querétaro was the third most important city in the Viceroyalty of New Spain. Visit the Cathedral, the Temple of the Santa Cruz and its tree with cross-shaped thorns, the church of Santa Clara and the majestic church of Santa Rosa de Viterbo.
4. Mansions and legends.
In the darkness, the ancient legends and fascinating myths of the houses in the city are reborn. The shops and offices are transformed into the stage of the old stories about Chucho el Roto, La Señora de Ecala, la Carambada, the Marquis and other personalities. Actors and musicians who walk through the alleys and mansions every night telling their chilling legends. There are companies that offer a variety of legend tours through the Historic Center.
5. Gastronomy.
Follow your palate and taste: gorditas at Jardín Guerrero, tamales on Arteaga Street, churros at 5 de Mayo, a milkshake at La Mariposa or enchiladas queretanas at El Arcángel.
